Hypnosis For Menopause

Hypnosis for Menopause

The HypnoMenopause® Approach

As a fully trained HypnoMenopause® Practitioner, I use a mix of modalities working to a validated protocol. In this blog I explain how hypnosis can help you during menopause and to answer some of the questions you might have.

My interest in this field was inspired by my partner and the women in my network who are in peri-menopause or menopause. Like many men, I knew very little about what lead to significant changes in many domains, different for each individual. I learned of the clinically validated success of hypnosis and as an advocate for using hypnosis as an effective additional modality where evidence leads, I expanded my knowledge - and am still learning.

Menopause - the effects of transition

If you’re reading this page, it’s likely that you’re at some stage in the menopausal transition, or think you might be. The lead up to menopause, (perimenopause), can last several years.

Menopause itself is defined as the time when you haven’t had a period for twelve months or more, after which time you’re in the post-menopausal stage.

Whatever stage of menopause you’re experiencing, you might be finding this time of life difficult for several reasons and wondering how hypnosis can help.

This transitional phase can be marked by:

  • Hot flushes

  • Night sweats

  • Fatigue

  • Aches and pains

  • Sleep problems

  • Changes in body shape

  • And a range of other symptoms which make it hard to function.

It's also a time when women may be struggling with other professional, social and family pressures and a shifting sense of their own identity and self-image.

The evidence for Hypnosis for Menopause

HypnoMenopause® combines hypnosis, mindfulness and Self Hypnosis to help women manage their experience in a completely natural way.

In clinical trials, hypnotherapy has been shown to alleviate hot flushes by up to 74%, in addition to helping mood, sleep and sexual function.

HypnoMenopause® was featured in Psychologies Magazine.

Following a five session programme, journalist Clem Felix wrote

“I feel energetic and am looking forward to the future with real excitement for the first time in years. For now, at least, I feel a long way from needing HRT”.

HypnoMenopause® creator, Dr. Claire Jack, writes regularly about the menopausal transition for online magazine, Psychology Today as one of their in-house experts.

Her protocol is the foundation of my approach.

Start with a consult

The first step in our work together is a free online video consultation.

The purpose of this call is not just to answer any questions you have and establish whether HypnoMenopause® is the right approach for you, but also so you can find out if I am a good fit for you.

Following that, you will usually have up to five sessions, during which you will work on different aspects of your experience. During a session, your I will talk you into a relaxed, focused state and use a combination of guided meditations and powerful therapeutic tools including NLP, mindfulness and mind-body communication to help you create your desired changes.

F.A.Q's

Is Hypnosis guaranteed to help?

There are a few variables that may mean hypnosis is not as effective as we might hope. It is for this reason that if after the first session we establish that you were not in a hypnotic state I will refund you.

Generally speaking, if you are genuinely motivated to create change and are open to exploring hypnotherapy, like most of my clients it is likely you will see an improvement in your symptoms.

I'm on HRT - is that a problem?

No it is not a problem and you can continue to take it as you wish. Hypnosis and alongside HRT medication is a safe complimentary approach.

Is Hypnosis an Alternative to HRT?

Some women stay on HRT during the program and some seek it out as an alternative therapy. Because everyone's experience is unique, this is also a conversation to have with your primary healthcare provider.

However as stated above, hypnosis has been shown to have an effectiveness rate of up to 74% in clinical studies - in the treatment of hot flushes. It also helps with mood, sleep and sexual function so, for some women, it provides an effective alternative to medication.

Does it matter what stage of menopause I am at?

The protocol is designed to work with women no matter whether they are perimenopausal, menopausal or post menopausal. Symptoms can persist for some years, and there also may be reasons unrelated to aging.

I don't have hot flushes/flashes. I'm a bit down

Although HypnoMenopause® addresses physical symptoms, there is often a greater context that hypnosis can help mediate, moderate, or remove. This can include such things as mood dysregulation, stress, overwhelm and fatigue, and mid-life challenges of career, elderly parents and teenage children or empty-nest transition.

How many sessions do I need?

Once we have had our initial consult, I will send you a treatment plan with an estimate of how many session I believe will be required. Most clients have around five sessions. However, if other things come up that need to be addressed that were not in the original plan this can mean additional sessions. This will be discussed with as soon as it becomes apparent.

I am not a doctor, and in fact my metric of success is you not returning for the same challenge in as few sessions as possible! As part of you program you will get two ore more recordings, and one of the sessions includes teaching you effective self-hypnosis so you can continue using it going forward.
